Major Digital Project…

The Coles notes version… (and a minor amendment or 2)

Rationale

My school division provides 20 percent daily in-school support for teachers and students in the area of computer technologies. This may change. Whether changes are implemented are not, I found myself wondering if there was an effective means of providing supports for educators/students in terms of digital technology. I then initiated discussions with staff members.
From these discussions I developed the following digital project:

Develop a digital in-school support tool that would complement existing supports or if need be, become a central tool to assist staff and student in teaching and learning specific educational technologies.

The objectives of the project are:

1.) Identify a number of technological tools that staff would like to see continual supports within the context of their curriculum needs.
2.) In collaboration with the staff, prioritize these tools. Choose the top two tools. Show examples of how current technological supports can help staff and students develop skills in online technologies (This class has some great tutorials)
3.) In addition to these existing tools, open a discussion on a tool teachers could use within the context of their curriculum. I believe a blog would be such a tool. I may also consider Mind42 (again, based on staff input)
4.) Using the Jing Project / Screencast , develop a tool to train staff/students in relation to the selected digital tools. Feasibility testing….?
5.) Post to a wiki.

The project’s success depends on two important factors. First, collaboration with the school staff at the many phases of the project. Secondly, research and collaboration with the EC&I 831 class and instructors for ideas and support. (hint)
My vision of the project is that it is indeed not static. This project could lead to future screencasts according to staff/student needs.

I may also need to research plausible solutions for halting linear time for extended periods.
